Please be proactive and purchase books early in the summer due to availability. Begin with the End in Mind; work on your projects during the summer.  Upon your return to the campus in August, instruction will begin based on the lessons students work on over the summer.  One more thing, please take time to Sharpen Your Saw.

Celebration! Lopez MS is the 1st Leader in Me Lighthouse Middle School in Texas! Leader in Me teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Our school will be conducting surveys to learn more about key areas of strength and areas of needed growth in our school. The data from these surveys will also help us track the impacts of The Leader in Me process and implement key practices more fully. In order for us to have a holistic picture of what is going on in our school we are asking all full-time staff members, parents/guardians, and students to participate.

Please fill out survey by June 30th.

If you decide participate, you will be asked to complete a survey (without sharing your name or other identifying information) that will be available through a web link . The survey is completely voluntary, but we do hope to get feedback from one member of every household. The parent/guardian survey takes about 12 minutes to complete and will ask questions about your child and about his/her experience in our school. If you have more than one child attending the school, you will be asked to think about the oldest child’s experiences as you answer questions related to their growth.

Parent Link survey:

Lopez students please complete a 20-minute multiple-choice assessment (no identifying information will be requested or collected) that will be confidentially administered by you. Students will answer questions about their attitudes and behaviors. They will be able to skip questions and stop at any time they choose. Students please answer the questions honestly as the information collected will be used to implement Leadership on our campus.

  • Lopez Families as we bid goodbye to the 2016 school year and hello to summer 2017  it is good to reflect on the ways we sharpened our saws. Our community is comprised of hard working, highly devoted people. As we work hard, we also take time to reward ourselves (Sharpen the Saw). Please consider sharing with us your experiences of how you have sharpened your saw  this past summer while you were on vacation or attending an event or function. Please e-mail your photos to Mr. Toback at or bring in your developed pictures to Mr. Toback-Room A205. The pictures can be in grayscale or  color. They will be displayed inside the school for all to enjoy.
